Questions and answers

Short answers about what Intercrawl does, and does not do.

Does Intercrawl change what visitors see?

No. Requests from browsers go to your site exactly as before. Only requests from known crawlers are answered from Intercrawl.

What if Intercrawl is down?

Your own page is served. A crawler never waits more than 10 seconds; on a timeout or any error on Intercrawl's side, your site answers as it would without Intercrawl. One exception: with Add to Vercel, if Intercrawl cannot be reached at all, Vercel has no fallback and crawlers get an error until it is back.

Is serving different content to crawlers cloaking?

The rendered page is your own page, as a browser shows it after its JavaScript runs. The dashboard and audits exist to show that each crawler received what a visitor sees.

Will this improve my rankings or get my site cited by AI answers?

Intercrawl does not promise any ranking, indexing or citation. It makes sure crawlers can receive your full page, and shows you, with dates, what each one received.

Do I need to change my code?

Not with Add to Vercel, Add to Cloudflare or DNS mode. The other installs add one file.

Does Intercrawl keep my visitors' data?

The serving system keeps no request log: no URL, IP address or user agent. It keeps counts per site and day. The privacy page describes all the data Intercrawl holds.

I use Prerender.io or my own prerender server. Can I switch?

Yes. Prerender's middlewares work with Intercrawl after changing the service address and the token. See Move from Prerender.io and Move from self-hosted prerender or Rendertron, and the comparison pages.

Which crawlers are covered?

See Crawlers Intercrawl recognises.

How long are scans and audits kept?

30 days. Monthly report summaries (counts only) are kept for as long as the site exists.

Can I remove Intercrawl?

Yes, at any time: remove the install file, disconnect, or turn DNS mode off. Your site keeps working throughout.
