DNS mode

Point a hostname at Intercrawl with one DNS record. No code, any host.

In DNS mode, every request to a hostname of your site passes through Intercrawl's edge. Crawlers get a rendered page; visitors get your site exactly as now, fetched from its current address. Nothing is added to your code.

Steps

  1. On the Sites page, open your verified site's install guide and choose DNS.
  2. Enter the hostname to serve (for example www.example.com) and your site's current address: where it answers today without this hostname, such as its Vercel, Netlify or server address, or your root domain if it serves the same site.
  3. Press Turn on DNS mode. The page shows the record to add.
  4. At your DNS provider, find the record for that hostname and change it (or add it) as shown:
FieldValue
TypeCNAME
Hostyour hostname, for example www
Valueedge.intercrawl.com

Leave TTL as it is. Before you change an existing record, note its current value: putting it back undoes this step.

  1. Press Check status. The certificate follows within a few minutes of the record.

The root of a domain (example.com without www.) can be served only if your DNS provider allows a CNAME there, often called CNAME flattening or ALIAS.

Turning it off

Press Turn off DNS mode, then put your DNS record back to the value you noted. Requests go straight to your site again once the change has spread.
